What is an intrastate move? This refers to a move of more than 100 miles within the same state.
What is an extra pickup? Most moving companies will charge you extra to make any stops to pick up or deliver additional items from anywhere other than your origin and destination.
How can I ensure I will be finished packing by my moving day? Many people tend to underestimate the amount of items to pack and the time required to do so. They may also expect more people to help on the actual moving day, even though some people may not be available. Avoid this by following an organized packing plan and allot more time than you believe you will require for packing.
What is hoisting? Certain large awkward items such as wall units or pianos may have to be hoisted out of a window instead of being carried down a flight of stairs. Check with your moving company about the availability and cost of this service.
Why do movers place shipments from more than one household on a trailer during long distance moves? This is much more efficient and allows the moving company to lower their costs. Direct shipments are usually available, but they will cost you more.
What should I do with my plants? We recommend that you move your plants yourself as they can suffer from a lack of light and water and temperature extremes in the truck. Please note that some countries will not allow the import of plants or other agricultural items if you’re planning an overseas move.
What is overflow? Movers may have to leave some of your belongings behind if there is insufficient space in the moving van or truck. If this is the case, make sure to leave the least essential items for the next truck that will be heading to your area.
What are wardrobes? These are special boxes that are designed to hold your clothes. Some come equipped with a hanging rod and can fit clothing from up to 3 linear feet of closet space.
What should I do if one of my items is damaged during the move? Professional movers and packers do their best to ensure all your belongings arrive safely to your destination. However, damage sometimes occurs. In this case, please email or call your moving company as soon as possible with the details.
